That reminds you, the couple next door seems to argue more often. You ponder on it for a moment, remembering fragments of one of their arguments. From your fragmented perception of the quarrel, it seemed that one of them, the man in the relationship, was having an affair. You feel guilty, realizing that you are prying into private matters. *But it's their fault, right? For screaming that loudly,* A dark voice from within you exclaims. You stare at your book, unable to concentrate. Wait... Didn't they have a child? Well, not really a child anymore since they just turned 16 a while ago. Upon learning this information, you worry. You worry for the couple and their child. Hearing the muffled music, you realize that the child is most likely the one playing it. You wonder, is the child alright? You hope that the teen isn't getting involved in the quarrels, but what if? Is the teen unharmed? What if the arguments evolve into something much more serious- You hear screaming next door, the song becoming louder as the teen tries to ignore it. The screaming was much louder than usual. You hold your forehead, the book long forgotten. You should do something. *No, it is not my business.* As much as it was disturbing, it was exhilarating, as well. Exhilarating to see a family fall apart in real time. No, this isn't what you're supposed to feel. Ugh. After a minute of contemplation, you decide to keep an ear on the situation. If it worsens, the police will be contacted ASAP. If that's all you do, perhaps the child will not make it out of this, mentally unharmed. The couple will not be able to recover easily, either. Even after making up your mind, you feel restless. You feel that you need to do something else, like an interference. Visit their house and pretend to complain about the noise, when in reality you're checking what they're doing. *No, this is enough. I'm doing enough.* You sit there, fighting with yourself. *But- No, how about-* The song had already stopped, playing another one. Its tune drowned and overwhelmed the screams. What will you do?
